Rove R2-4k dash cam can record video in a resolution as high as 2160p. You will get comparatively clearer footage and images by using Super Night Vision Technology in the low light conditions. Rove claims that the car dashboard camera has the largest aperture in the industry with f1.8 aperture, which allows more light to the sensor that helps in low-light situations. The internal camera used is Sony IMX335. With a 6.52mm diagonal, the CMOS sensor of the IMX335 provides 5MP resolution with an effective image size of 2592 (H) x 1944 (V) while remaining power efficient.
Ultra Wide 150° A+ Angle Viewing allows a wide viewing angle to catch key details. The wide dynamic range (WDR) function increases video quality with wide light ranges and image details. Usually referred to as high-dynamic-range imaging or HDR, Wide Dynamic Range refers to the camera’s ability to facilitate a wide range of lighting conditions without affecting image quality.
Using the ROVE App, you can view your driving route and track it on google maps. You can enjoy dashcam recordings instantly on your iOS or Android device. It makes it easy to download and share your recorded videos in 4k directly on your phone with your friends and family.
Its time-lapse video feature enables you to take a particular number of pictures per second at a much lower rate. As a result, when you combine the images in real time and play them, everything appears to be moving faster. There are 3 options which can determine the smoothness of the output. Those are the 1 Frame/Second (Normal), 2 Frames/Second (Smooth) and 4 Frames/Second (Smoother).
Rove R2-4K allows you to stamp the speed on to the video, you can enable this option from settings menu. Similarly, it can stamp the time on photos too.
For 4K Video it is recommended to use a Class 10, U3 Speed Micro-SD Card. The package does not include it, you need to buy it separately. Rove recommends the Samsung Class 10, U3 Speed Micro-SD Card.
You can store up to 128 GB of the recordings. A 128 GB SD card with a 1920×1080 resolution can last for over 12 hours before overwriting the earlier recordings.
The available loop cycles are 1, 3, 5 or 10 min. So, if you choose a loop cycle of 10 minutes, it will split the entire driving session into 10 minute clips. If your card gets full, Rove R2 will overwrite the oldest first recording.
This Voice Guidance feature in ROVE R2-4K makes the navigation easy with its customized experience.
An event of sudden collision activates the Inbuilt G-Sensor, which locks the current video as significant evidence for further investigation. G-Sensor displays 3-Axis impact data in an X, Y, Z graph. This data can provide evidence of when and where you hit a pothole on the road. It also indicates exactly where the impact occurred on Google Maps.
The free ROVE APP enables you to access your video on your iPhone or Android phone while on the road. With the free ROVE app, you are able to view Live Video streaming up to 10 feet away from the camera. In addition, previously recorded videos can be viewed or downloaded. This software doesn’t allow you to watch your recording remotely.
The only downside could be that it has a very tiny screen which may not be that useful to look into. So connecting through mobile would be an obvious option available to check the recordings.
